Dogs Needing Homes
Duke
Breed:
Basset Hound
Beagle
Age: YoungSex: Male
Size: Small Description: "I am almost 3 now, and I enjoy spending time outside sniffing the grass and hanging out with my foster brothers! It's even better when we run in the backyard and play doggy tag! Sometimes my foster parents play fetch and I finally figured out that if I bring the ball back they will throw it again and again and again!! Going for walks is still challenging for me since my foster parents never understand that when I smell something I want to stop and smell? I don't know about this walking for what they call exercise is all about. I seem to get a little possessive over my bones and food, but only towards my foster brothers. Nothing violent, I just growl so they know to leave it alone. I go potty outside all the time, but I have never been left for longer than a couple hours so I don't think I could wait all day to go potty. I would be happy in a home by myself or with other doggy siblings, however I would not be so nice to other animals? kitties in particular.. I have a taste for kitty fur. I LOVE KIDS! I like playing with them, kissing them, cleaning up after them, snuggling and my favorite? napping with them! My favorite part of the day is when we go to bed. I love to be under the covers next to my foster mom ALL NIGHT! Thanks for stopping and I look forward to meeting you , my forever doggy family! Ruff-A-Rooo!"
Duke is showing signs of separation anxiety so he will need to be placed in a home where someone is around most of the day. He will need another dog in the home and he will also need access to a lot of exercise. He loves to chew on bones and play tug with a rawhide. Duke's favorite place to be is underfoot near his mom or dad. He sleeps under my desk when I am working. At night he won't sleep with my other two in their room he has to be on the floor on my side of the bed or up in bed with me. He only barks when kenneled if I have to run an errand, and it is a really hoarse bark. He loves to snuggle next to you on the couch and if he hears a collar jingle he jumps like a kangaroo with excitement to go for walks. He also likes to try to nip at the lawn mower when his Foster Daddy is mowing the grass. He does get protective over bones, toys and his food. However only really with the other dogs in his foster home. He is truly a wonderful little dog.
Duke is between 1-2 years old and he's just a petite little guy. He was dropped off at a shelter and on his surrender form his prior people freely admitted to hitting him, so he has a sad past. However, his foster mom says he is the sweetest little guy! Duke will be neutered prior to adoption, up to date on shots, have had a fecal, heartworm test, and be mirco-chipped. His adoption fee is $325.
