Dogs Needing Homes
Chico
Breed:
Chihuahua
Age: YoungSex: Male
Size: Small Description: Chico is a 2 1/2 year old, 9 lb., buff colored Chi. He is a lean muscle machine. He was tearfully given up because of his previous owners health problems. ( had nothing to do with this sweet boy ) At first, Chico was extremely scared and it took a few days before I could even touch him. He gets along fine with my two dogs but he had to learn to to share the food bowl and that he wasn't in charge of my "girls". Once we got that established, he's become a jem! He is quite the cuddle bug and is an adoring buddy. He follows me from room to room and enjoys sitting on my lap. At night, he jumps up on the bed and snuggles under the covers at my feet. Kisses and snuggling his head under my chin are about his favorite things to do. Chico is a very loving boy without being too needy. He and my little Rat Terrier wrestle, play chase and like to lay on a couch together. He avoids strangers and is very cautious, which is very common among small breed dogs. A house with a female dog would be a great fit for him. The previous owner said Chico had a little problem with their other male Chi but not their female. We have not seen him around small children but older kids should be great. Occasionally, he is sneeking in a far corner of the house to poop, so we have a little work to do yet on his house training. He will do it right after he comes inside in the mornings. He does not mark (pee) on the walls or furniture so it may just be a new house complaint. He has been left loose in the house with the "pack" when I'm gone and there have been no problems from him. He rides well in the car and walks alright on a leash. This little man will make someone a grand companion and is a pleasure to have around.
Chico is neutered, up to date on shots, heart worm negative, had a fecal, had a dental and blood work done, is on flea and tick prevention, and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $325.
- You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website.
- Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Until then, however, we must charge it.
