Jericho
Breed:
Corgi
Olde English Bulldogge
Age: AdultSex: Male
Size: Medium Description: Jericho is a beautiful boy from Tennessee who absolutely adores women! He's roughly 27 lbs of pure muscle, and looks to be a mix of Corgi and Bulldog. He's very handsome and somewhere between 3 to 5 years of age, with the absolutely cutest stub of a tail! He enjoys walks, and can do about a mile at a time, round trip, depending on the temperature. He's very good on a leash, and as long as you're willing to set boundaries and be the leader, he will follow you anywhere. He's extremely responsive while wearing his leash, and doesn't even fight when I decide he really can't say hi to the wild rabbits that live across the street.
Jericho has impeccable manners when on the leash and in public. He's polite to everyone he meets, whether they're male, female, child, cat or dog or even on a bicycle. He was even very excited to meet the mixed breed neighbor dog who's roughly the size of a pony! Size doesn't mean a thing to Jericho. He's a little wary of sudden, loud noises, but thunderstorms don't phase this stolid boy one bit!
If you really don't feel like rushing for a fly swatter every time a bug happens by, then Jericho would be a great dog for you! Any fly he sees is fair game. We're not sure if he just doesn't like them or if he needs just a little extra protein in his diet, but any bug that gets within his reach won't be breathing for long! As far as commands go he's very good with sit, as long as you have a treat ready for him. Jericho is definitely food motivated and definitely smart! So if you want to do extensive training with Jericho, have lots of treats and be prepared for all those long walks to help keep him nice and trim.
Jericho is not an annoyance barker. If he barks, it's because something's happening he thinks you should know about, or maybe it's meal time. Did I mention how much Jericho enjoys food? He does happy dances when it's time for breakfast and dinner, but once the food bowl is on the floor he slows down and takes his time. He will even clean up after himself if a kibble should escape the bowl! He's missing one upper canine tooth, so sometimes food does go flying every which way.
Jericho loves carpet! He likes to roll around and act like a complete goof when presented with wall to wall carpeting, or even a good scatter rug! And since he's fully house trained, there's no need to worry about accidents on all that carpet, either! Jericho is currently fostering in a house with two cats, and the three of them get along really well. If one of the cats does startle him, Jericho may lunge, but that's all he does. There's no teeth and no chasing involved.
Like everyone else, Jericho does come with some baggage. He's a resource guarder, and in his case, the resource is women. He would do best in an all female household, but if there's a man around who is truly willing to put up with the occasional growling and help Jericho work past his general distrust of men, then there's a good chance he will eventually be able to overcome this. He's not aggressive by any means, but he has a deep chest and his growling can sound scary. We are working to help him get past this, but like all things, time and patience will be the best ingredients to help Jericho overcome his aversion. And it is an aversion; he would much rather avoid than confront. But on a leash and in public, you would never know he felt this way about men! Which means there is definitely hope for this complicated brindle boy!
If you're heart is big enough to fit Jericho into it, he'd be more than happy to fill it! His favorite place is at the feet of his chosen person, so be prepared to always have him close. Not so close that its suffocating, but definitely close enough so that he can keep an eye on you! Unless you try to dress him up, in which case he disappears pretty fast!
