Dogs Needing Homes
Prudence
Breed:
Miniature Pinscher
Age: AdultSex: Female
Size: Small Description: Prudence is a six year old Miniature Pincher mix who arrived at her WI foster home from TN on Valentine's Day, 2010. She was brought to the TN shelter as a stray and lived there for five years. They felt because she is large for a Min Pin (Prudence weighs 30 lbs.) that people weren't as interested in adopting her. But it sure wasn't because of her personality! Prudence has quickly bonded with her foster dad and his seven year-old daughter. Even the foster dad's mini-Dachshund has accepted Prudence after a brief period of adjustment. Prudence has shown some signs of possessiveness of her foster dad with other dogs but she responds positively when corrected by Daddy Dogg. Prudence is not leash trained but she does obey a command to Sit at the door before and after a walk so Daddy Dogg can attach/detach her leash. Because of her inexperience with leashes she will run if she sees a squirrel/rabbit/etc. without hesitation if she's off leash or not fenced in. Prudence needs to be kept on a leash or in a fenced area for her own safety when outdoors. She now has a cool new step-in harness so she can go for walks and not choke herself when she sees something "interesting".
Despite a few accidents (pee only) in the first week or two while adjusting to now living in the North, Prudence has done very well with going potty outdoors. If taken out regularly she has no problem taking care of business as she should. Daddy Dogg confines her and the mini-Doxie to the kitchen area during work days which has been working out great.
Prudence does bark when she sees or hears people outside the house. She is energetic and loves walks but enjoys snuggling next to Daddy Dogg on the couch. She sleeps through the night on the bed and doesn't get up until Daddy Dogg does. She LOVES to play fetch and is really good about bringing her chew toy back so Daddy Dogg can throw it again and again. Prudence is a great traveler. She settles down to snooze if the trip is longer than 15 minutes. Daddy Dog also thinks Prudence likes to dance since she does jump up with her front paws and lightly taps you as if asking you to dance. Cha cha seems to be her favorite.
Prudence is a very healthy dog. Her short coat is easy to maintain and she was very cooperative when Daddy Dogg gave her a bath upon her arrival from TN. If you are looking for a dog who will devote herself to you completely then Prudence would like to do just that.
Prudence is a friendly, loving min pin mix. She is spayed, up to date on shots, has had a fecal, been de-wormed, and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is $325.
