Dogs Needing Homes

Zeus

Breed: Miniature Pinscher

Age: Senior
Sex: Male
Size: Small
Description: Zeus is a 11 year old minpin who came into rescue with his sister, Zena. He is the more mellow of the two. They were surrendered by a family. He is neutered, up to date on his shots, heart worm negative, frontlined, on heart worm preventative, micro-chipped, and just had a dental. Zeus and Zena have been together their entire lives and we would love to see them go to a home together if possible. His adoption fee is $230 or you could adopt him and his sister for $400. We must charge tax per MN state law.

Zeus and Zena are a pair of lovable minpins that I think would be best for a home with no other pets or another small dog. They are very affectionate, love belly rubs or scratches behind the ears. Zena is the dominant of the two and loves to sleep next to you or under a blanket. She is adventursome and acts much younger than her age. Zeus is more serene, likes to sleep near you on a blanket or in a chair. Both dogs will startle with strange noises and start to bark. We have found them to quiet down quickly if we pet them or let them get reassured by smelling our hands. They have been quick learners of our routine and have not had any accidents since the first day. Whether they are not familiar with our house, they do not go to the door to go out but we have found they will usually dance around a lttle bit and bark for what seems to be no reason. You would need to like kisses from the dogs, put up with their little tails wagging a mile a minute and be willing to put up with paying the attention that they want. They have very little legs, so although they enjoy walks, they need to be on the short side. They are small, 11-13 pounds, and would be best with a good fenced yard. They can squeeze through very small openings as we found out the first day. They do not seem to play with toys, or our younger dogs but love treats. We have not left them alone so not sure if they have any separation anxiety.
