Dogs Needing Homes
Heidi
Breed:
Dachshund
Age: AdultSex: Female
Size: Small Description:
Heidi is a red smooth-coat mini dachshund weighing only 9 pounds. She is beautiful and has the most unusual white coloring on her face and chest. True to her breed, she has a lively personality and is a very happy and curious dog. She is always watching to see what her foster mom is up to and loves to sit outside in the sun and watch the squirrels and rabbits run playfully through her back yard. Heidi has been doing a great job of catching up on her socialization since she left the breeder where she spent her first 2 years. Dogs like Heidi who have been rescued from puppy mills require gentle, quiet, patient and extra loving homes so they can learn to trust and live like normal companion dogs. Heidi does love to cuddle and is very affectionate, but only with those people who have very patiently earned her trust. She is very shy with people she does not know. Heidi adores the other small dogs in her foster home and plays and cuddles with them. She needs to go to a forever home with at least one other playful (the more playful the better) and friendly little dog. Heidi is very smart and has come a long way in her housetraining skills, but she is still not perfect. She needs a home with someone willing to help her continue her training. This should be a quiet adult home, or one with patient, gentle teens. Also, her adoptive home must have a fenced yard because if she were to get loose, she would run out of fear and be very difficult to catch.
Most dachshunds, because of their short legs and long backs are not ideal around young children. Also, to avoid back injuries, they should not be allowed to jump off couches or beds or to climb up and down flights of stairs.
Heidi has been spayed, just had a dental, is up-to-date on her shots, heartworm and parasite negative, and has been microchipped. Her adoption fee is $330. Please complete the adoption application located on our website if you are interested in possibly adopting Heidi.

- Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philisophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, we must charge it.
- We are offering a microchip placement for your resident dog for small donation to our rescue
