Dogs Needing Homes

Breed: Cockapoo

Age: Adult
Sex: Male
Size: Small
Description: Norton is a 5 year old beautiful 35 pound Cockapoo who is great with kids. He can sit, roll over, and even play dead. The reason he was surrendered from his family of 5 years is that he has a funny habit of chasing shadows--his own, yours, whatever. Norton was surrendered to us with crusty, smelly, itchy skin. We took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with food allergies and a secondary bacterial skin infection from scratching. However, with a diet of quality food and antibiotics, his skin issues have all cleared up! He is a very loyal, protective dog and loves following you around the house.

Norton is house trained and crate trained, although he does whine a bit when crated--he just wants to be where the people are! Because Norton grew up as an only dog he does not know how to act appropriately when meeting unfamiliar dogs. He sometimes barks and sometimes ignores them completely unless they come in his personal space. He will need guidance on developing his skills in new situations. He seems very trainable. He needs someone home during the day and someone who is willing to work on his OCD.

Norton is neutered and up to date with shots. He has had a negative fecal and a negative heartworm test. Norton is current on heartworm/tick prevention for the season and he micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $325

You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website.

Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philisophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, we must charge it.

We are offering a microchip placement for your resident dog for small donation to our rescue

Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Since we strive to provide the best possible care for our animals, sometimes we cannot answer emails promptly. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond to you.

You must be 18 years of age to make an adoption request
