I'm a very loving & affectionate 3 year old Rat Terrier mix. I was abandoned by my family in Tennessee when they left their home and me in the back yard. Even though my family left me, I am a very social dog and enjoy the company of humans, other dogs & even cats.
My favorite place to hang out is still outside and I love to be outside as much as possible but I can be happy inside, too. I love to be with people and give out kisses & snuggles. I am house broken.
My favorite things to do are to take long walks, run with my toys in the backyard and chew on bones. Night time has also become a favorite of mine because I get to sleep in a human's bed and have come to enjoy the warmth & security it provides. However, if humans don't want me to sleep in the bed, I will sleep in my crate as long as it's in the bedroom and I know my humans are close.
I have high energy typical of terriers but I do quiet down to take a nap or just hang out. I will go in a kennel but will cry for just a little bit and then settle down nicely. My foster family is working with me on commands like sit and wait and off. I'm also learning how not to scratch at the doors and I've responded well to training. I've already learned how to sit and wait at the top of the stairs for an "OK" before I go out the door.
Because of my size (28 lbs.) and very lovable personality, I'd be a perfect fit for a home with children over the age of 5. If you have cats, I'd be happy to have them as my friends, too. With some TLC, patience & discipline, I will make a wonderful companion!
My adoption fee is $325 and I'm neutered, micro-chipped, heart worm tested, de-wormed, treated for fleas and up to date on shots.
- You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website.
- Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philisophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, we must charge it.
- We are offering a microchip placement for your resident dog for small donation to our rescue
- Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes.
