Dogs Needing Homes
Description: If it is true for dogs that theyâre as old as they feel, then Abby must feel like a teenager! This little lady is an entertaining 13 year old poodle who had been living with the same family since she was a puppy. She is a little angel that weighs only 10 pounds. She has been a delight to have in our foster home. Abby would make a wonderful companion to someone that is home much of the time; perhaps a retired couple, empty nester, or someone who works from home. She would do best in a child-free home. A good part of the day Abby likes to rest on her favorite soft mat after she has made her nest. She is a sociable poodle, and prefers human companionship over being alone. She is house trained and sits nicely for combing and grooming. She can run up and down stairs, likes her walks, and enjoys jaunts in the yard. She loves riding in the car, too! She likes her treats, and is willing to roll over or sit pretty waiting for a healthy morsel. She will trot into the kitchen following us with tail wagging to see if a treat is coming her way. She can whine while we are having our meal, but it is helpful if we feed her dog food at the same time. She is curious about our cat and Abby has been put into her place by the feline and seems to accept coexisting! She has accepted other dogs in the house at a previous foster home, not frequently socially interacting but cohabitating with them. She has done well when new people, and dogs, have come to visit exhibiting no barking or socially unacceptable behavior. Wonât you consider giving Abby care for the rest of her life? In return she will bring happiness and joy into yours.
Abby was a family surrender because they didn't have the time for her. While in our care, Abby has been spayed, received a dental with health screening blood work, brought u.t.d with shots, tested for heartworm and put on prevention, de-wormed, frontlined many times, and micro- chipped. Her adoption fee is $225 even though this obviously won't cover her vet bills.
You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website.
Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philisophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, we must charge it.
We are offering a microchip placement for your resident dog for small donation to our rescue
Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Since we strive to provide the best possible care for our animals, sometimes we cannot answer emails promptly. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond to you.
