Dogs Needing Homes

Breed: Chihuahua

Age: Adult
Sex: Female
Size: Small
Description: Whiskers is a tiny (4 lb.) beautiful purebred Chihuahua with a big heart! She started life in a puppy mill and came to us after her owner died. We're guessing she is about six years old. She’s shy and cautious with people at first, probably because she wasn’t well socialized in her early puppy mill months, but she’s been lovingly cared for since then and with a little time and patience, bonds easily and deeply. A true lap dog, she loves to cuddle and will curl up in your lap for as long as you’ll stay put. Quiet and docile, with a sparkly personality once she gets to know you. Would do best in a home without children and other dogs so she can be the center of attention, but gets along with anyone. Applicants must have done research about the safety precautions one must take with such a tiny dog.

Her adoption fee is $350 plus applicable MN state tax. She is spayed, up to date on her shots, de-wormed, heart worm tested, has been treated with flea and tick preventative, and is micro-chipped (we cover the cost of the registration for the chip, too).

You must fill out an adoption application before you are allowed to meet the animal. Please complete the adoption application located on our website.

Small Dog Rescue of MN does not negotiate the adoption fee on our dogs and we must charge sales tax on all adoption fees in order to comply with Minnesota state law. Please note that SDR is philisophically opposed to the idea of buying and selling animals, and we support any future legislation that would remove sales tax from adoption fees. Until then, however, we must charge it.

We are offering a microchip placement for your resident dog for small donation to our rescue

Please note that we do not have a shelter, and all dogs are in foster homes. Since we strive to provide the best possible care for our animals, sometimes we cannot answer emails promptly. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond to you.

You must be 18 years of age to make an adoption request
