Dogs Needing Homes

Breed: Bichon Frise

Age: Senior
Sex: Male
Size: Small
Description: Simon is an older neutered male Bichon Frise that came into rescue due to a financial/living situation. He acts like he's 7 or 8, with lots of energy and playfulness. His papers say 13 but we feel he may be younger and the vet even thinks he may be younger,The typical life span for this breed is 15 to 20 years, so even if older he's got a lot of years left. He is used to wearing a belly band around the house, walks beautifully on a leash, and is fine with other dogs and cats. Simon adjusted very rapidly to our foster home and does very well with a routine. He is fine being home during the day with the other two dogs and The Kat when everyone is working. He watches our faces closely and communicates with us in a variety of ways – watching our movements and expressions, listening to our voices, barking, a soft whimper, touching us with his paw, bringing us his toys, and trying to lead us to the food dish or door. Simon has a unique sitting stance when he is asking for a treat sitting on his haunches like a rabbit. He takes pleasure in warning us of new noises or persons in the vicinity. He enjoys his twice daily walk outdoors and does very nicely on a leash; he can quickly untangle himself if the leash gets underneath his legs. He lets the neighborhood kids pet him and gets up close to check them out too. In the evening, he shares my lap with the cat who likes sitting on shoulders and shares the bed with the cat and our two resident dogs. He enjoys his kennel and knows how to flick his paw to open the door to go in and lie down; the kennel is available for him to use as he wishes. He likes to get comfy in his kennel about 8 at night. Simon is up to date on his shots, heart worm tested, wormed, and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $225
