Dogs Needing Homes
AARDWOLF
Breed:
Terrier
Age: YoungSex: Male
Size: Small Description:
Aardwolf is under 1 year old and weighs 18 pounds but should grow to be about 20-25 pounds. He is a sweet boy pulled from a high kill dog pound in the nick of time. He is great with cats and other dogs. The ideal dog for someone who is looking for a pup to train - he needs to learn just about everything, but he is very eager to please! He is learning house training quickly in his foster home, but his adoptive family will need to be willing to continue with it in their home. He's neutered, up to date on shots, micro-chipped, heart worm tested, and de-wormed. His adoption fee is $225 dollars. Foster mom says: "We are still getting to know Aardy and how he tends to act and react in his new foster home. He is a terrier mix and is about 18 tall at the shoulder. So far, he seems to have some separation anxiety issues. We are working on having him be comfortable with being outside by himself for short periods of time. He will do just about anything to get back into the house. He did show some signs of aggression when let outside and was not allowed to immediately come back into the house, but we will continue to work on this. He is not housebroken, but appears to be making progress, by not having accidents when he is confined to a small portion of the house. He does not seem to be a barker or chewer and has paid no attention to my cats. He did display some aggression toward one of my resident dogs, which may be attributed to possessiveness and anxiety over his human. He appears to want to please, but can become defensive if confused or doesnt agree about what is expected. We will continue to monitor and work on these behaviors and realize that he has probably been through a lot in the past week or so."
