Sophie Update: Our Hospice Dog
9/8/2009 10:58 AM
Sophie

Here's an update from Sophie's foster mom about how she's doing:

Sophie sleeps and eats eats a lot, but doesn't seem to be gaining any weight. Since she has been on the Well Food, her poop is super healthy and she seems to have a bit more energy when she is awake. She has had a few random episodes of not feeling well or being unhappy. The symptoms are usually vague, but they have all seemed to pass in a few hours. She seems to sleep harder during the day than she used to. She has actually started wagging her tail (!) on occasion, but usually only when I am preparing her food or when she wants something else, and is often accompanied by whining. I would guess it is an attention seeking wag and not a happy dog wag, but it's nice to see nonetheless. She still sleeps in the kitchen and luckily her separation anxiety has decreased a bit.  I still think some of her tumors have increased in size (but I could be wrong), but she doesn't seem to be showing any marked signs of pain or illness related to the cancer. I must say I am suprised, but you never know with these things. I will continue to watch her like a hawk. Oh, I forgot to mention, she actually cuddled up to me on the couch last night for the first time! Usually it's me doing the cuddling up!
