Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota (SDR) is an all-volunteer group committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and placement of dogs 20 pounds and under.

Beanz came to Small Dog rescue with severe insecurities that showed up as behavior problems.  He broke a record by going through 3 foster homes in less than 24 hours because no one could handle him.  But our volunteers are incredible people and didn't give up on Beanz.  Special thanks to Julian Ulseth for fostering Beans for months and Max Bitterman at A Dog's Best Friend for taking Beanz on as a special foster case.  Beanz is finally ready to go to his forever home - and we need to find a place for him as soon as possible so another dog can get the help they need.  Please share this story and refer interested people to our website for more information about Beanz!

Beanz the rat terrier came to us, a middle aged dog with extremely low self esteem.  He was always anxious and responded to meeting new dogs/people by running up and attacking.  Upon several weeks of practice, Beanz had given up this way of being, but did not have a good substitute behavior.  Instead he would become very insecure and flighty with new people/dogs.  He had completely lost his natural instincts.  Beanz could not engage in play at all.  He would quickly turn aggressive or become scared during all activities until Cesar came around!  We have been using Robby's pit bull Cesar to help unbalanced dogs recover their social skills. (much like Cesar Millan and Daddy)  Robby brought Cesar over one night and Beanz was his usual uncomfortable self.

After a couple of minutes an amazing thing happened.  Beanz showed us a side of him no one had ever seen!  He became so excited to play and be with Cesar.  Finally, Beanz had found a doggy role model!  Cesar came with Beanz to the last Small       Dog Rescue Adoption Event and with Cesar as his leader, Beanz joined him in his playful and friendly attitude towards the other dogs and people at the event.  Thanks to Cesar, Beanz is a wonderful and adoptable dog.
