We're Looking for More Beagle-Friendly Foster Homes
11/20/2009 5:14 PM
Beagles are beautiful. Just look at Spike! They bay instead of bark. Their nickname is "the merry little hound" and for the most part, they live up to that name.
Did you know that there is no beagle breed rescue in the tri-state area, even though beagles are the 4th most popular breed in America? It's true. That means that shelters are always brimming with beagles and there isn't a special place for shelter workers to call about them.
And many people who foster with Small Dog Rescue have restrictions about the size of the dogs they can foster, either due to townhome or apartment rules, or a very tiny and fragile dog in the house, or whatever. So we're always looking for beagle friendly foster homes. Even beagle ONLY foster homes! That would be amazing!
So if you know someone who's crazy about beagles or who might be interested in fostering but doesn't want a huge dog or a froofy dog, beagles may be the answer! They're small to mid sized and they are sturdy little hound dogs. Usually great family dogs, too. And they tend to have fewer house training issues than most of the other breeds we take in to boot! Apply to foster a beagle or beagle mix, like Spike (who's been waiting for a foster home for months now) today!
